Traditional Wedding Vows:

Dearly beloved, we are gathered here in the sight of God, and in the face of this company, to take part in the most time-honored celebration of the human family, and to join GROOM and BRIDE in holy matrimony, which is an honorable and beautiful estate, instituted by God and therefore is not to be entered into unadvisedly or lightly, but instead with love, respect, friendship, honor and in the love of God. Into this holy estate these two persons present come now to be joined.

GROOM and BRIDE have come to witness before us, telling of their love for each other. We remind them that they are performing an act of complete faith each in the other; that the heart of their marriage will be the relationship they create.

GROOM, will you have this woman to be your wedded wife, to live together in the holy estate of matrimony? To be your friend and companion? Will you love her, comfort her, honor, and keep her in sickness and in health, and forsaking all others, remain faithful in your love for her, so long as you both shall live?

BRIDE, will you have this man to be your wedded husband, to live together in the holy estate of matrimony? To be your friend and companion? Will you love him, comfort him, honor, and keep him in sickness and in health, and forsaking all others, remain faithful in your love for him, so long as you both shall live?

I GROOM, take you, BRIDE, to be my wedded wife, to be no other than yourself, in all the ways life may find us, to have and to hold, from this day forward, for better for worse, for richer for poorer, tending you in sickness and rejoicing with you in health, to love and to cherish, till death do us part.

I BRIDE, take you, GROOM, to be my wedded husband, to be no other than yourself, in all the ways life may find us, to have and to hold, from this day forward, for better for worse, for richer for poorer, tending you in sickness and rejoicing with you in health, to love and to cherish, till death do us part.

Rings ( Minister may say ) Bless, O Lord these rings, that those who give them and those who wear them may abide in thy peace, and continue in thy favor, until their life's end, Amen.

Minister: These rings of precious metal are justly regarded as an emblem of the pure and everlasting state of marriage as they are fashioned to have neither a beginning nor an end; while gold is so incorruptible that it cannot be tarnished by use or time, so may this union be in its purity and more lasting than time itself.

( repeat ) This ring I give you, as a sign of my constant faith, and abiding love. With this ring, I thee wed

Minister: We speak to GROOM and BRIDE of love, in which the trust and freedom of the other person becomes as significant as the trust and freedom of one’s self. We speak of our hopes for their continued growth through patience, one for the other. We speak of our confidence that new levels of understanding, shall bring ever new surprises of strength and fortitude they do not now know.

In the years which shall bring GROOM and BRIDE into greater age and wisdom, we pray that their love shall be ever young. In this hope may they keep the vows made on this day, teaching each other who they are, what they yet shall be, and that they share the fruits of their new life together.

( Let us pray ) Our Father, creator and preserver of all mankind, giver of all spiritual grace, the author of everlasting life, send thy blessing upon this man and this woman, whom we bless in thy name, that they, living faithfully together, may surely perform and keep the vow and covenant between them made, and may ever remain in perfect love and peace together, Amen.

Those that God hath joined together, let no man put asunder.

Forasmuch as GROOM and BRIDE have consented together in holy wedlock, and have witnessed the same before God and this company, and have declared the same by giving and receiving a ring, and by joining hands, I now pronounce that they are husband and wife.

( You may now kiss your bride )

Is now my happy privilege to present to you,

Mr. and Mrs. GROOM and BRIDE MARRIED
